Psychopathy Prevalence Venn Diagram

This Venn diagram developed by Dr. Robert D. Hare, a major psychopathy researcher, shows how psychopathy relates to Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) and mental illness in the general population.  Rough estimates by psychopathy researcher put the prevalence of psychopathy at around 1% of the population.  There are no unique statistics for the prevalence of psychopathy among females, but there is no reason to believe it is any different, perhaps it may even be greater since the statistics are extrapolated from prevalence in the prison population, and many believe that female psychopaths are underrepresented there because they can often be less violent.

  1. I think that they are underrepresented, and I don't think that most of them are in prison. Instead, I think most of them are at home mentally, emotionally, and spiritually destroying their families.I suspect that most don't commit illegal crimes that would send them to prison the way that the males do. However, if the abuse to their children goes on long enough those children will wish they had never been born, they may try to commit suicide, they may break down mentally, or their physical health may be jeopardized. One can not maintain physical health if cortisol is constantly being pushed into their system from trauma and stress. I know this from experience.
